  • £5,675.25 raised at Haworth 1940s weekend

Every year Haworth goes back in time to the 1940s. The event draws over 25,000 visitors to Haworth each year. Visitors are encouraged to dress in their 1940s best! For the past few years we’ve allowed Wydean Weaving to park cars on the land at Bridge House Mills, this year was a little challenging due to the weather we were experiencing, but we managed to make it work!

The main beneficiary this year from the money raised is the Pilgrim Bandits Charity which helps wounded soldiers, a large chunk also goes to local charities. We nominated So Sally Can Wait, a charity raising funds for Sally Jayne who lost her battle with cancer earlier this year. They’ll be receiving £500 of the funds raised.

We’d like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to the team at Wyedean Weaving for organising it all, to Airedale Springs for their car park and to our team on site who prepared the ground to make this all happen!

If you’d like a quick look at our development in its early stages as the cars were parking you can click here which will take you to the time lapse video from Wydean Weaving on You Tube.

  • We’re hiring again

We’ve got quite a few homes in the pipeline in Yorkshire and Lancashire over the coming years. As such we’re growing our team. If you’re looking to join a family business where you feel like you’re an integral part of a team then read on.

We are looking for two roles. The first is an experienced concreter/steel fixer. Experience is preferred but other groundworks experience will be considered. We need someone to start immediately.

We also need an experienced tracked excavator driver. You must hold the CPCS plus 10 tonne excavator tickets. Dozer, dumper and roller tickets would be advantageous but not essential.

Both roles will be reporting to the foreman on the development and both will offer competitive rates of pay dependent on experience.

Interested in either of these roles? Call our Office Manager, Dawn, for a chat or email us at [email protected].

If you’d like to know more about what makes us tick, you can read about the family behind the business here and about our values here. We look forward to hearing from you.

  • Proud to be different

Have you read May’s Aspire magazine? If you haven’t yet and have a few spare minutes turn to page 51. Our Creative Director, Caroline spoke to them about our homes, our values and our style. We are hugely proud and passionate of our work at Skipton Properties. It’s nice to see this recognised in a magazine that so many of you read.

For those of you that haven’t had Aspire through your door we have copied the article below:

‘Skipton Properties pride themselves on their attention to detail. The design of their homes starts with an understanding of what home means to their customers: a sanctuary to come home to at the end of a long day, a place for family and for friends, a place to make memories. Creative Director, Caroline Verity, oversees design at the company and much like her father, has particularly high standards! She’s regularly on site with their team of managers and if something doesn’t quite work, she will discuss options for improvement with them. The design process doesn’t end there though. The team are regularly in touch with their customers to gain insight on how they use their homes and what they could improve. The feedback is considered, so that if they build the same design of home again, they’ll know that it’s perfect.

Caroline likes to think they are a little different from other house builders, they have a clear set of values that guide their decisions, whether it is buying a piece of land or deliberating on what to include in the latest specification. Customers, family, people, excellence, creativity and caring for the community are what matters most and this set of values has been key to their success; in fact, Skipton Properties has been recognised as one of the fastest 50 growing companies in Yorkshire.

Traditional design, a love of natural stone and perfect finishing touches enables them to compete with the second home market. Their goal is to build homes that blend with the local architecture and complement the villages and towns in which they are built; recent developments in Settle, Skipton, Silsden and Fence showcase this signature style.

The internal design of their homes is equally important to Caroline too. Many would say that she has a very specific style, influenced by time she spends in London. Though specifications evolve alongside interior design trends, she certainly isn’t a fan of a fad and believes that designs need to be timeless. Specifications are therefore considered in the context of the scheme’s design and are developed with this need for timeless design in mind.

Why not see for yourself the thought, care and attention to detail lavished upon each and every new build home. Visit the show homes at Harwa Waterside in Silsden and Spring Mills in Fence and see what sets Skipton Properties above the rest.’

  • Fastest 50: the results

Last week, Ward Hadaway and the Yorkshire Post announced the positions of the fastest growing private businesses in Yorkshire. The list was constructed by analysing the cultural and strategic aspects of a business, in addition to its financial results. We can proudly announce that we came in at number 12.

The list features an array of different companies that have all put their faith in the success of our region. We are extremely proud of our county and our achievements. We continue to invest in the area and will do so for generations to come. It is our hope that our business continues to grow, albeit steadily, into more areas throughout Yorkshire & Lancashire so that more people are able to experience our homes.

We owe our success and the position in this list to our loyal employees. Without them we’d be nothing. We’d therefore like to take this opportunity to thank them for their hard work.

Here’s to the future, one where more of the country looks to the North and sees us for the powerhouse that we are.

  • Yorkshire’s Fastest 50

We recently sat down with Ward Hadaway for a little bit of a grilling on who we are as a company, where we have come from, and our vision for the future. They used the information gathered alongside our company financial reports to put us into the running for the Ward Hadaway’s Fastest 50.

Today we found out that we’d made it through and are officially one of Yorkshire’s Fastest 50. The Ward Hadaway Yorkshire Fastest 50 highlights and celebrates the achievements of fast-growing, profitable companies in the region by compiling and publishing an annual list of the 50 fastest growing privately-owned businesses across Yorkshire.

Jamie Martin, Managing Partner at Ward Hadaway, said: “We congratulate Skipton Properties and every company in the Ward Hadaway Yorkshire Fastest 50 for 2017 for their achievements in making this year’s list.”

The awards ceremony will be held in Leeds on Friday 17th March where awards will be given out to highlight further achievements within the fastest 50. Wish us luck!

  • Pendleside Hospice

    Pendleside Hospice Logo

We’ve recently donated £1570 to Pendleside Hospice to help them continue their work caring for the community.

We always donate to charities close to our hearts. This instance is no different…..Last week we were asked to donate to Pendleside Hospice as one of our team’s wife  had been treated at the hospice. Their target was £2000 – we helped them make up the difference.

    A little about Pendleside Hospice

The hospice was established in 1988. The cost to run the hospice is £3.8 million a year, £2.8 million of that is raised from charitable donations. They care for local people in need in Burnley and Pendle aged 18 and over. They provide care not only to the patients, but also support their family and carers too. Last year they helped over 1,200 people.

    How can you help?

There are several ways you can reach out and help. You could volunteer your time, donate whatever you can afford, register for one of their fundraising events, play their lottery or purchase something in their online or charity shop.

  • Community Grants – Sutton Village Hall

£1,000 to help Sutton Village Hall

Since 2000 Sutton Village Hall has been run by a committee of volunteers. It’s a space that brings the local community together and is host to christenings, children’s parties, birthday celebrations, weekly exercise classes, blood donor sessions and much more.

Our donation will go towards installing a new air conditioning system. The hall becomes quite hot during sunny spells. Installing air conditioning will allow the hall to be of benefit to the community all year round. Serving over 4000 people a month, Sutton would be lost without it. We were delighted to help.

    Community Grants

Over the past twelve months we’ve helped several local causes from the firefighters charity to local schools and churches.

We hope to continue to be able to help the community for many years to come.

    🙂

    Community Grants

We’ve been giving £1,000 away to charity each and every month since November of last year. The past two months we’ve donated to two very worthy causes. August’s grant went to Home Start Craven and September’s to Skipton Baptist Church.

Home-Start Craven are a not-for-profit charity serving North Craven, South Craven and Skipton. We support families, with at least one child under the age of five, who may be facing a crisis, a challenge or simply just need a helping hand. We provide dedicated volunteer support, once a week for two hours. Our support is confidential and free. Broadly, we support families in one or more of the following ways: emotional support; practical support (such as behavioural management); reduce isolation; budgeting; healthy lifestyles.

Skipton Baptist Church approached us as they have just submitted plans to the council to expand their church into the building next door. They need to raise a whopping £285,000 to transform the neighbouring property into a place for the community to come together.

We hope our donations will go some way to helping those in need. If you have any worthy causes in mind we’d love to hear from you. You can reach us at [email protected].
