  • Celebrating 30 years…

30 Years‘We’re very proud to announce that this is our 30th year. We started building homes back in 1986 with one ambition – to build better homes. My father and Managing Director, Brian Verity, started on his first development in Skipton with a team of contractors, a model many of the larger house builders use, but he wasn’t satisfied. He wanted more control over the building process to build better homes. Over the past 30 years he has been doing just that.

Tonight we celebrate 30 years (no small feat) with our staff, suppliers and consultants. We’ll be looking back at what we have achieved but mostly looking forward, to envision what the next 30 years could look like.

We’re excited and proud of our history but we also realise we could be even better. That’s why we brought on our Chairman, Paul. He’s helping us focus on what we do and what we believe in. We’d like to be the house builder that others look to for inspiration, not only in Yorkshire and Lancashire but nationwide. We want to be visionary, we want to re-imagine what new homes mean to all of you and to continue to convince those of you that hadn’t thought about buying new, that new is exactly what you had been looking for.

We’ll be releasing a little video shortly which we hope lets you know how we feel about our business and goes some way to explaining why we do what we do. Here’s to many more years of building the homes you love to live in.’

    Caroline Verity, Creative Director

(Our Head Office and Sales Offices will be closed for the party from 3pm but will re-open as usual tomorrow)

  • Raising £30,975 for RMCH – what it means to us

The finale! On the 25th June we walked the Yorkshire Three Peaks

We walked for Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital. So far we have raised a whopping £30,975!!!

It’s a gruelling walk. We accept there are harder walks out there but we had never done anything like this before so it was a great achievement.

We thought you’d like to hear from some of our team on what the walk meant to them.

‘Walking (at the end.. staggering) the three peaks was something I always fancied doing. when we decided to do the walk for the hospital it seemed too good an opportunity to miss. It was a hard walk but having the weather on our side helped. Heaven knows how they manage to run the 3 peaks in under 4 hrs?’
Alan, Site Manager. He has been with the company for over 20 years

‘I enjoyed the walk so much I thought it only fitting to end it with a dramatic finale…. collapsing at the pub!’
    Boyd, Quantity Surveyor

‘Part way through the walk I was struggling, but I said to myself that my struggle is nothing compared to what struggles the children at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital go through and with that thought in my head I completed the 3 peaks.’
    Derek, friendly accountant!

I’m really glad I took part in the Yorkshire three peaks challenge, I totally underestimated how tough it was going to be so it was a great achievement to get to the end! Thank you to everyone who sponsored us, the money raised is for a great cause.
    Oliver, Architectural Technician

And last but not least, a quote from Dawn who lost her niece last year. Her niece was treated at the hospital.

‘I am so happy to have taken part in the Three Peaks challenge. We had an amazing day and really pulled together as a team to support each other when it got tough. When I was struggling, I just kept thinking about my niece and that spurred me on to the end. I feel a huge sense of achievement and I am proud to have walked it with such a great bunch of people!’
Dawn, superwoman/office manager and PA to the MD and Chairman

THANK YOU again to all of those that supported us. We can’t begin to describe what it means to us to raise so much money for such a good cause.

  • Conquering the Yorkshire Three Peaks

    And raising £30,785 and counting….

    (You can still donate here!)

For the past few months we’ve been raising money for the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity. In order to raise the money our team decided to walk the Yorkshire Three Peaks.

We completed the walk yesterday in 9hrs 15 minutes. Our team were up bright and early and had completed the first peak before most of the country was out of bed! We’re sure many of you have conquered the peaks, it can be tough at times, but what pushed our team right to the end was the knowledge that we’d raised over £30,000 for the hospital.

For those of you that don’t know, we chose to support the hospital after an employee’s niece was treated at the hospital for leukaemia. Unfortunately she didn’t recover and she lost her life at the age of 11.

Sarah and Caroline, who run Skipton Properties alongside their father, Brian, were given a tour of the hospital. They were blown away and decided to commit to raising £30,000 for the hospital’s charity to mark the company’s 30th birthday this year.

We asked suppliers, friends and family to help us reach the target, which we reached just before we embarked on the walk. We’re absolutely delighted we were able to raise such a large amount of money and want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported us. We couldn’t have done it without all the support we have received.

At Skipton Properties it’s very important to us to be able to give back to the community. We’ve already given away £7,000 to local charities in around Skipton, North Yorkshire, through our Community Grants scheme. We hope to be able to continue this community support for years to come.

We wish everyone a very happy Sunday and thank everyone again for all the support.

If you would like to donate you can do so here.

More images of our walk to follow!

  • Children are our future

humphreyWe’re walking the Yorkshire Three Peaks next weekend to raise money for Royal Manchester Children’s Charity because they help children all across the country – approximately 220,000 a year.

Donations are used to support the purchase of specialist equipment to diagnose and treat young patients more quickly and easily, funding pioneering medical research to increase understanding of children’s illnesses and the very best ways to treat them, and creating a child-friendly environment allowing children to feel welcome and at ease.

Today’s total is £19,005. Our goal is £30,000 but luckily we have until after the walk to hit our target.

Want to know more about them? Take a moment to watch this video, it will take less than 9 minutes, but you may need a tissue (we did).
