  • Walking for children

Childrens Hospital Logo 3aSkipton Properties walks the Yorkshire Three Peaks on the 25th June

On the 25th June the team at Skipton Properties will be throwing on walking boots and taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks to raise money for the Royal Manchester Children’s Charity.

We chose to support the hospital because a colleague’s niece lost her battle to leukaemia last year at the age of 11. We recently donated £5,000 to the charity and took a tour of the hospital to see where the money would be spent. We were very impressed and would like to do more for them.

    Our target

We are turning 30 this year and to honour this achievement we would like to raise £30,000 for the charity! It may seem a large figure but if every one of our suppliers were to donate, this figure no longer seems unachievable.

Getting to know Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital

Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital has 371 beds and treats over 220,000 patients every year, not only from across the entire North West region but also nationally and internationally. As the largest single site children’s hospital in the UK, the hospital offers specialist services including bone marrow transplantation and paediatric intensive care. The hospital also has the UK’s largest specialist burns unit which treats over 450 children and young people with burn injuries every year.

The NHS can only provide so much. Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity plays a vital role in raising additional funds for the hospital. The charity’s mission is to support excellence in the treatment, research and care provided to patients, making a real difference to the children and young people in their care, ensuring patients receive the highest quality treatment in the very best surroundings. Donations are used to support the purchase of specialist equipment to diagnose and treat young patients more quickly and easily, funding pioneering medical research to increase understanding of children’s illnesses and the very best ways to treat them, and creating a child-friendly environment allowing children to feel welcome and at ease.

    Would you like to help?

We are in the process of asking all of our suppliers to dig deep, bit if you also would like to donate, and help children from all across the North West, then you can do so on our Just Giving page which can be found here:

    JustGiving - Sponsor me now!

Please donate whatever you can afford and help make a difference to the thousands of patients cared for by the hospital each and every year.

    Thank you for your support.

  • Selfa Success!

DSC_6967In December we helped SELFA with their Christmas workshops

We were delighted to receive an update from the staff at SELFA telling us about the Christmas workshops we funded with our November Community Grant (thank you Clare!)

They had over 90 children from the local area attend a variety of workshops including a Lego workshop, craft day, circus session and baking day. They even hosted a New Years Eve party!

Selfa’s vision is a community where vulnerable, disadvantaged and disabled children and young people experience happiness and belonging. In our opinion they seem to be achieving just that. If you’d like to learn more about SELFA, donate or volunteer you can find out more information on their website here or by emailing [email protected].

  • Friends of Aireville Park

    aireville1December’s Community Grant….

We are sure many of you use Aireville Park to walk your dog, for a stroll after you’ve taken your children swimming or after a session in the gym, for a spot of sunbathing (when we do have good weather) or simply as a thoroughfare to get to the train station.

Friends of Aireville Park aim to conserve and enhance the park and we want to help them do that…. so this month our grant goes to them to help plan the children’s play area and to allow them to buy two more benches.

Fiona Protheroe Chair of Friends of Aireville Park has said “ We are delighted to received funding from the Skipton Properties Community Grant scheme.  The friends group have a huge task ahead to raise funding for a new children play area in Aireville Park. The support from Skipton Properties is very much appreciated.   Anyone interested in being more involved in the friends group, to help improve the park, can contact Friends of Aireville Park on [email protected] or join our facebook group”
We’d like to take this opportunity to thank them for their efforts in helping to make Skipton the great place it is to live.
