  • Spotlight on the Providence in Silsden

The Providence is a large two bedroom home (located on the left hand side of the above image) in the lovingly converted Harwal Mill at our development, Harwal Waterside in Silsden. The master bedroom has lots of space for integrated wardrobes if you wish to install them. Considering the length of this room, we’d also recommend adding a upholstered storage chest to the end of your bed; they are the perfect place to store bedding and other bits and bobs.

    Silsden Mill window view

The large aluminium windows we have installed across the mill provide lots of light to every room. Some of our clients have wondered how to dress these windows; Creative Director, Caroline, recommends in the living areas that you install shutters to the lower portion of the windows which means you’ll get the privacy you want without obscuring the light they provide. In the bedrooms a simple blind, as we have fitted in the Show Home, works well.

This apartment has a wonderfully modern kitchen that features a full range of appliances and an island, positioned to make the most of the space; prepare your food whilst still being able to interact with your loved ones.

Bathrooms are modern with full tiling across sanitary ware walls and integrated bathroom systems from Ideal Standard and Hansgrohe. Select from our wide range of tiling to create a bathroom that’s you.

Choose the ground floor Providence and you’ll be able to make the most of the south facing patio which has been surrounded with landscaping. It’s a beautiful sun spot that offers complete privacy.

Why live at Harwal Waterside? Harwal Waterside offers contemporary living in a secluded location whilst benefitting from its location in the centre of Silsden. It’s the perfect home for young professionals and retirees alike.

Would you like to look around? Visit us this weekend, we’re open 10am – 5pm or call us on 01535 633722.

  • A continuous policy of improvement

Perfection is impossible, instead we strive for excellence. Our Creative Director, Caroline, visits each of our developments regularly to scrutinise our homes and that she does… with a fine tooth comb.

Her latest visit to Spring Mills in the village of Fence in Lancashire meant a few changes had to be made. The first of them, was the Hutton home. A customer who couldn’t buy this home in the end (it’s still available!) suggested we open up the hallway, which we have done. Caroline instantly agreed in the improvement. The next time we build a home like this we’ll be taking these comments on board. The changes have meant we’ve got a larger living area and a much more free flowing space. You can view the latest layout here. Finally, we had to come up with a solution to a stepped area in the garden. We’re currently designing a bespoke metal railing that will tie in with the design of the development.

Her third suggestion was tiling in the cloakroom in the Pinnacle. It’s always been our way to include more in our specifications. We won’t name names but we once heard of a national developer that didn’t include downlights in the kitchen or bathrooms in a house valued at £600,000. We include downlights in all of our kitchens and bathrooms at Spring Mills in Fence across ALL of our homes. Quality of finish is of upmost importance to us and we hope that it shows. In light of this, all Pinnacle homes will now have half tiling to sanitary ware walls.

Of course every site visit doesn’t just highlight what doesn’t quite work, it proves what does. Spring Mills is looking beautiful and is, as we have heard from our homeowners, a great place to live. We’re extremely proud of the homes that we build and welcome you to come and see the Skipton Properties difference.

Would you like to look around? Spring Mills is open Thursday – Monday 11am – 5pm. We look forward to showing you our homes.

  • A vision becomes a reality at Kearns Village

The glorious weather we’ve been experiencing is certainly a welcome change up in the Rossendale Valley. We made the most of it yesterday by photographing Kearns Village. We’re absolutely delighted with what we have created, especially in light of the difficulty we have encountered in making our dreams a reality. The development hasn’t been an easy build; we’ve had poor weather, local opposition and a council that weren’t as supportive as we had hoped. In today’s news post I’d like to share two of our Manager’s views on their experience at Kearns Village so that you can start to understand the level of pride we are feeling today….

Alan is one of our longest serving members of staff. He is currently a Site Manager at Spring Mills in Fence and has been with the company over twenty years:

‘From the first stages of the development, building the original offices and Show Home (now occupied), Kearns Village was always going to be one of the most testing sites Skipton Properties have done. We were up against an anti-building campaign, a local authority that wasn’t forthcoming and the harsh winter elements. The pictures are a magnificent reflection of what Skipton Properties are capable of. From design to fruition, what we have achieved is truly amazing.’

Roger is king of groundworks, what he doesn’t know about this subject isn’t worth knowing! He’s also one of our longest serving members of staff and works closely with our Managing Director at the early stages of each of our developments:

‘Kearns Village was a very difficult site to develop. From a ground works perspective, working on a clay bank hill side when it’s raining every day (for the last 7 months) certainly questions your mind and your ability, but when you see the development in its full glory, it’s a credit to the company. I’m not sure many others could or would have gone as far in the design and quality we have constructed here.’

Of course, our homes wouldn’t be worth building if it wasn’t for our customers. Each and every one of our homes in the first phase at Kearns Village has or will have a family moving into it. The feedback we have received from them has been heartwarming; it certainly makes it all worth it. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of our staff again. Without you, we couldn’t have done it!

  • The Bridge – Haworth

Did you know that we’ll be building a superior collection of homes in Haworth, West Yorkshire this year? Over the past few weeks we’ve been preparing the ground so that we can start to build our newest Show Home and our first range of homes. First available will be our two and three bedroom Loft Houses and Highbridge homes. A little later we’ll also have a range of luxury, four bedroom homes that will occupy the far perimeter of the site looking out to the countryside of the Pennines.

The Bridge will feature a selection of 2, 3 & 4 bedroom homes built out of natural stone with natural slate roofs. The development will also feature our signature dry stone walls. Walk inside our homes to find our refined specification with contemporary or traditional kitchens with soft close doors and AEG appliances, Hangsrohe bathrooms and much more.

The images you see above and below were submitted with our planning application and as such aren’t quite complete but they should give you an idea of what we want to create at The Bridge.

Later in the project we’ll be renovating the listed Bridge House Mills (see above) to it’s former glory. It will include luxury retirement apartments for the over 55s.

Always wanted to live in the centre of the historic village of Haworth in a new home? Now you can, send an email with your details to [email protected]. By sending us your information you’ll be the first to receive advance information. We looking forward to hearing from you.

  • The sun is shining in Fence in Lancashire

Summer appears to be on its way all across the country today. Our Operations Director has been on site at Spring Mills in Fence making the most of it!

We’ve been a little busy at Spring Mills over the past few months. When building a development such as this where it loops around on itself, our customers often find it hard to visualise what the finished product will look like. Fear not, we’ve got over 30 years experience of making our homes look beautiful so you’ve got nothing to worry about. Spring Mills is starting to shape up however and slowly becoming the development we had envisaged.

Natural stone is in abundance throughout the development creating homes that blend in with the local architecture. To the rear of the homes that line the back of the development we’ve been busy creating beautifully private gardens with landscaping to the retaining structures. From our experience all these gardens get the late afternoon and evening sun, perfect for al fresco dining during the summer.

We’ll soon be moving our Sales Advisor, Joanne, into our four bedroom Pinnacle, so when arriving at the development you’ll need to walk to Plot 12 rather than directly into the Show Home. Our new office and View Home will be open by the 27th May. In the meantime we’ll be open as usual Friday, Sunday & Monday 10am – 5pm in the Show Home.

Want to know more about the homes we have available at Spring Mills now they are starting to take shape? You can view more details here? Like to visit us? You can do so during opening hours without an appointment. We look forward to seeing you!

  • Know your appliances: AEG

At Spring Mills in Fence we are installing AEG appliances into every home, whether a two bed cottage or a four bedroom detached home. We chose AEG for their sleek German design and their technical capability. In today’s news post we’d like to talk about what appliances we install into our homes and why.

The oven: We install AEG’s electric oven, that comes with a SteamBake function that adds steam to the start of the cooking process to keep your food moist. It’s the perfect oven for baking bread as it keeps your bread soft inside and allows for a beautiful crust to form on the outside. Their ThermicAir system allows for even heat distribution that reaches every corner. For the clean freaks out there, your job just got easier, with this oven you can easily detach the glass for more efficient cleaning.

The hob: We install AEG’s gas hobs in our homes at Spring Mills. The flames are easily adjustable and quickly heat up your food. In our largest two homes we’re installing a contemporary gas hob which has been designed with flush fittings for easy cleaning.

The extractor: The key things we want to see in our extractors is minimal noise and powerful extraction, the AEG extractors we fit have both of these features. They have super quiet breeze technology. They’re also energy efficient so you won’t be worrying about your energy bills whilst using it.

The fridge (where you keep all the goodies!): AEG’s fridge/freezer has a CoolMatic function that brings your food down to the right temperature quickly. Keeping your food fresh.
