  • Customer Stories: Warren, The Foster, Bolton Gardens, Silsden

‘Fabulous & perfect – love the space in my home and I love living in Silsden’

    Warren, The Foster, Bolton Gardens

We recently had the pleasure of visiting Warren, a proud homeowner at Bolton Gardens, where he’s lived in one of our stunning Foster homes for over a year. From the moment we stepped through the door, Warren greeted us with a warm smile, a cup of tea, and a delicious biscuit to make us feel right at home. As he gave us a wonderful tour of his beautifully styled home and garden, it was clear how much pride and care he’d put into making his space truly his own. His attention to detail and passion for his home was inspiring, and we’re thrilled to share his experience living in this fantastic community in Silsden.

What first attracted you to The Foster house type & how do you find living in a 3-storey home?

I saw a picture of The Foster and I loved the look of it, however, my daughter recommended one of the two barn conversions, but I much prefer the look of The Foster, I like that it is a tall home so the views are amazing, with lots of light from the Velux windows. Another big thing for me was the garden size of the plot, especially being south-facing.

Reflecting on the past year, how would you describe your overall experience with your Skipton Properties home?

Fabulous & perfect – love the space in my home and I love living in Silsden, I used to live in Leeds, and I love the community.

Can you talk about the quality and craftsmanship of your home now that you’ve lived in it for a while?

I love the soundproofing, it stays warm and I have had very minimal shrinkage or snags. The flooring is laid brilliantly and the natural stone just pulls it all together.

What are some favourite features or spaces in your home?

All of it! My bedroom on the top floor is like a sanctuary, I have so much space in the lounge, I love that it is south-facing and I specifically chose it off-plan so I got my desired plot, I like the three-storey because it keeps me fit going up and down the stairs.

Would you recommend Skipton Properties to friends or family and if so, why?

I certainly would, all the guys on site are very considerate, I wanted a local builder and I cannot fault the craftsmaship. Customer care is also so pleasant and helpful.

Would you choose Skipton Properties again if you were to move and why?

Yes, because of all of the above. I have had new builds before and would not go to a national builder again as the finishes were not as good and the customer service was poor.

Is there anything Skipton Properties could have done to improve your overall experience?

The whole process has been mostly seamless – from the Sales Advisor to moving in and like I previously stated the Customer Care was just brilliant and I can’t fault anything from the process.

Warren’s story is a perfect example of how a thoughtfully designed home, like the Foster home, can provide more than just a place to live—it offers a foundation for a fulfilling and rewarding lifestyle. His beautiful home and garden are a testament to the quality and craftsmanship at Bolton Gardens, where homeowners are empowered to create spaces they truly love. Whether you’re looking for a peaceful retreat or a place to grow, Bolton Gardens and our range of homes, including the Foster, offer the perfect opportunity to start your own chapter in a thriving community.

Skipton Properties Raises Funds for Breast Cancer Research with Wear It Pink Day 2024.

At Skipton Properties, we believe in coming together as a team to support important causes. On Monday, October 14th, our staff swapped their usual workwear for something pink to take part in Wear It Pink, a national fundraiser in support of Breast Cancer Now.

Together, we’re thrilled to announce that so far, we have raised £85.51 to support Breast Cancer Now, a charity dedicated to funding life-saving research and providing vital support for those affected by breast cancer.

It was a wonderful day of community spirit, delicious bakes, and shared purpose. For those who didn’t get the chance to donate but would still like to support the cause, donations can be made through the Breast Cancer Now website.

  • Zoopla’s House Price Index Report: Mortgages and House Price Growth

The latest Zoopla House Price Index reveals a notable resurgence in UK housing market activity, supported by the lowest mortgage rates seen in over a year. With fixed mortgage rates now at their lowest in 15 months, buyer demand has surged, leading to a 25% increase in sales agreements compared to this time last year.

Today’s fixed mortgage rates have already priced in that financial markets expect UK interest rates to decrease over the next 2-5 years, which is further supporting buyer interest and market stability. This is good news for prospective homeowners, as many lenders are offering more competitive rates in anticipation of future interest rate cuts, allowing for a steady increase in market activity. You therefore don’t need to wait until the next Bank of England base rate review.

Looking forward, Zoopla predicts continued moderate price growth across the UK, driven by both increased buyer interest and a stabilising lending environment. This outlook suggests that the housing market will remain resilient, with a steady but measured pace of growth expected through the remainder of the year

  • UK Property Market Gathers Strength: A Positive Outlook for Homebuyers

Good news for those dreaming of a new home—house prices in the UK are rising at the fastest rate in nearly two years, reflecting  confidence in the property market. Nationwide Building Society recently reported a 3.2% increase in house prices in the year to September, up from 2.4% in August, making it the sharpest annual rise since late 2022. With the average price of a UK home now standing at £266,094, it’s clear that the market is once again on the move.

This growth follows the Bank of England’s decision to reduce interest rates for the first time since 2020, cutting them from 5.25% to 5%. Lower rates have made borrowing more affordable, encouraging many to make the leap into home ownership. Robert Gardner, Nationwide’s Chief Economist, explained: “Income growth has outpaced house price growth, and with borrowing costs easing, affordability has improved for prospective buyers.” This trend has led to a noticeable increase in buyer activity, which is expected to continue as we approach the traditionally busy autumn period.

Terraced homes have seen the biggest rise, with prices up by 3.5%, followed by semi-detached homes and flats. Detached homes remain a popular choice due to the increased demand for space during the pandemic, with prices rising nearly 26% since 2020.

At Skipton Properties, we understand that buying a home is about more than just bricks and mortar. It’s about finding a place where you can create memories that last a lifetime. That’s why, with the market showing signs of strength, now is the perfect time to make your move.

And this Christmas, we’re making it even easier for you to find your dream home with our exclusive festive offer. For a limited time, when you reserve one of our beautifully crafted homes, you’ll enjoy luxury flooring throughout, making your home ready to move into from day one. Plus, we’ll give you £2,000 towards your moving costs to make your transition as smooth as possible.

As a little extra Christmas cheer, we’re also offering a £1,000 Amazon voucher to help you turn your new house into a home. Whether it’s adding the finishing touches or treating yourself to something special, this gift is the perfect way to celebrate the season in style.

This offer is available across selected homes ready for Christmas, including:

  • A Journey into the Future of Homebuilding: Velux Housing Innovation Trip 2024

It’s been a week since our Managing Director, Sarah, had the privilege of attending the Velux Housing Innovation Trip 2024 in Amsterdam. Over the course of three insightful days, Sarah joined fellow SME leaders in the construction industry to explore cutting-edge trends and innovations that are shaping the future of ‘healthy’ housing.

The event featured thought-provoking presentations on sustainability, smart building materials, and emerging technologies. These discussions highlighted the critical importance of preparing for the upcoming Future Homes Standard 2025, which will fundamentally shift how we approach energy efficiency and environmental impact in homebuilding.

As an SME developer, the opportunity to engage with pioneers such as Thomas Rau, who champion sustainability, and discover breakthrough innovations like smart windows and decarbonising materials, provided invaluable perspectives. This trip reaffirmed our commitment to building homes that not only meet but exceed future standards, offering long-term value and comfort to our homeowners.

We would like to extend a special thank you to Velux for hosting such an enlightening event and for fostering a spirit of innovation in the industry. The connections made and knowledge gained are sure to inform our ongoing projects, ensuring that we stay ahead of important regulatory changes and continue to deliver homes that set a benchmark for quality and sustainability.
